• Attributing forests to valuable category and choosing specially protected areas, defining their boundaries; attributing forests to merchantable and reserved categories and defining their boundaries  
• Considering materials on transferring lands of forest fund into lands of other categories  
• Managing consideration of proposals on changing list of forest zones and forest districts of Russian Federation  
• Organizing information interaction by conducting state forest inventory, monitoring  fire danger in forests and wild fire, forest pathological monitoring, remote monitoring of illegal cutting and use of forest fund lands, radiation monitoring
