I Finnish-Russian-Chinese Economic Forum

On October 30-31, 2008 delegation of Federal Forestry Agency, headed by B.M. Bolshakov, Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz took part in I Finnish-Russian-Chinese Economic Forum (Helsinki, Finland).

This Forum was organized by Ministry for Employment and Economic Development and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, together with Ministry for Economic development of the Russian Federation and Ministry for Commerce of People’s Republic of China.

The main goal of this trilateral measure was promotion of developing investment and innovation cooperation between Russia, Finland and China in various branches of economy, increasing competitiveness of national economies of countries-participants.

The main topics for discussion at the Forum were development of forest complex, as well as transportation and transportation logistics, energetic and accompanying technologies of protecting environment.

At the Forum were held plenary meetings and three round-tables devoted to abovementioned key directions of cooperation between the countries. In Forum’s work took part representatives of official and business circles from Russia, Finland and China, all together about 300 persons.

Co-Chairman of the round table on forest-industrial complex for Russian Federation was B.M. Bolshakov.

In the course of plenary and round-table meetings on forest-industrial complex were raised some main actual for participating countries issues, such as situation and trends of forest complex developing in times of global financial crisis, forecasts for development of forest products market, cooperation between the countries in forest branch and its perspectives, search for new role of governments with aim of adapting forest complex economy to new conditions.

Within the frames of the Forum presentations were made by B.M. Bolshakov on topic “On Strategy of Forestry Development in the Russian Federation” and A.P. Petrov, Rector of SEE VIPKLKh on topic “Economic and Legal Base of Border Cooperation in Forest Sector”.
